i know that the important thing was to love rather than to be loved but if love is GOD, then why does it give pain to us?
i dont understand or may be that i dont want to understand.

Faith seems to me at least in part the act of giving up the need for understanding, why things are as they are, and simply trusting that there is rhyme and reason to it all, not for us to understand.
That's just an opinion - I'm not religious.
