''Will you remember me, even if I forget you? '' - That line, which i heard long back, haunted me today..

Do people whom I don't remember still remember me?

Does the boy who took away my pencil in 3rd standard remember me?
Does the gal in my class on whom I had big time childhood crush remember me?

Does my maths teacher still remember pulling my cheeks when I scored 92 in the maths in class 5?
Does my science teacher still remember one of her favourite students?

Does the doctor who pricked me injection last time remember me?
Does the rickshaw puller who took me to the nearest destination remember me?

But most importantly, do I remember them all?
Daily we meet so many different individuals who, in some or the other manner shape your lives, past, present or future. Do we tend to remember them all? Is human memory big enough to store all the data about all these people?
Should we remember them all or is it absolutely fine to forget lot of them?

Think about a day without the ragpicker/trashpicker in your street?
Think about a day without the bus/auto driver?
Think about a day without the vegetable seller or even the grocery seller?

Aren't we dependent on all these individuals to complete each of our days?
But are we thankful to them?
Rather...Should we be thankful to them or they are just another bunch of people doing their job?

If later is right, then for all those believers in 'GOD', I got a question; Why do we thank God, when he is just doing his job?

Or is it that, they don't deserve it? Or are we too busy with ourselves? Or is it that we never learnt about thanking others?
Or have we forgotten how to thank others who directly or indirectly make our day ?

But then, do we remember them all?

Very interesting post and commentary, Aseem, showing a truly sensitive and inquisitive nature. We do forget many people along the way, but I also think, it is stored in the mind somewhere to perhaps be triggered at a later date. And you are right, we do take an awful lot of things for granted, but as long as we try our best not to and to appreciate even the tiniest of gestures, we are doing ok.
